There are three state universities in Adelaide - Flinders University, The University of Adelaide and University of South Australia.  There is also one private university - Torrens University, and a US university - Carnegie Mellon University. All of the universities offer a range of scholarships for international students. There are also TAFE SA scholarships available including VET scholarships and Higher Education scholarships.  Read below for more information on the scholarships they offer.

There are also Australian Government Scholarships offered to more than 2,000 students each year.  The scholarships cover tuition fees, return air-travel and more.


Flinders University Scholarships

Vice-Chancellor International Scholarships

The Flinders University Vice-Chancellor International Scholarships offer a 50% reduction in tuition fees for the duration of the program.  Undergraduate applicants require an equivalent minimum raw ATAR 95 or above and submission of the application form.

A 25% reduction in tuition fees for the duration of the program.  Undergraduate applicants require an equivalent minimum raw ATAR 80 or above.

A 20% reduction in tuition fees for the duration of the program. Undergraduate applicants require an equivalent minimum raw ATAR 80 or above.

20% full duration scholarship to study another undergraduate or postgraduate degree. Applicants must have successfully completed an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification from Flinders University

Pathways Scholarships

If you are currently studying a recognised Australian Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Associate Degree, you could be eligible for a 20% full duration scholarship to study at Flinders. You must have successfully completed a recognised Australian Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Associate Degree or similar, have been granted credit towards their Flinders studies as per the Policy on Credit for Prior and concurrent Study or Work Experience and be onshore in Australia studying in internal mode.

The University of Adelaide Scholarships

The University of Adelaide has 9 different scholarship programs open to international students studying in Adelaide.

Global Citizens Scholarship

Students can receive a reduction between 15% and 30% of the tuition fee.  This scholarship rewards international students commencing an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification who have received academic merit in their studies.  This scholarship will be awarded at the time of offer.

Global Academic Excellence Scholarship

The scholarship offers a reduction of 50% of the tuition fee for the minimum standard full-time duration of your chosen undergraduate or postgraduate degree.  These scholarships are highly competitive awards that reward commencing undergraduate and postgraduate coursework international students who have demonstrated academic excellence in previous studies.

Higher Education Scholarship

The Higher Education Scholarships rewards undergraduate and postgraduate international students who have demonstrated their passion for learning and loyalty to Australian education by successfully completing their year 12 high school studies (undergraduate only) or AQF-recognised course or program at an Australian higher education institution, prior to commencing their degree at the University of Adelaide.  This scholarship will be awarded at the time of offer.

Family Scholarship

Did your spouse or sibling study with us? This scholarship is for family members of our current or graduated students. Simply provide an English-translated birth certificate that shows your relationship and receive a 25% tuition fee reduction. If you study full-time and complete your degree within the minimum timeframe, you will receive this reduction each year of your degree.

Alumni Scholarship

Receive a 25% tuition fee reduction if you’re completing a second or subsequent degree at Adelaide. As a graduate, you’ll automatically receive this scholarship, and if you study full-time and complete your degree within the minimum timeframe, you’ll receive a 25% tuition fee reduction each year of your degree.  This scholarship will be awarded at the time of offer.

University of South Australia

Vice Chancellor's International Excellence Scholarship

Recipients will receive a 50% reduction in their student contributions (tuition fees) for the duration of their degree, or up to a maximum of four years of full-time study (undergraduate or postgraduate degree by coursework).  Successful applicants will become a UniSA International Student Ambassador.

Recipients will receive a 15% reduction in their student contributions (tuition fees) for the duration of their chosen degree.  Students will automatically be assessed when applying for an eligible undergraduate (Bachelor) or postgraduate (Masters by Coursework) degree offered at UniSA.

TAFE SA Scholarships

TAFE SA is South Australia's largest vocational education and training (VET) provider and one of the largest in Australia.  It is also a registered higher education provider and is run by the Government of South Australia.

Destination Australia Scholarships

The Australian Government provides funding through the Destination Australia Program to help eligible tertiary education providers offer scholarships to domestic and international students to study and live in regional Australia.  9 scholarships are available for international students to commence studying a Bachelor of Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management at TAFE SA's Barossa Valley Campus.  The scholarship provides $15,000 per year in scholarship funding ($45,000over three years).

Carnegie Mellon University Australia Scholarships

CMU Australia Scholarships

The scholarships are awarded to eligible students from Asia, Latin America and Africa and apply for Carnegie Mellon University Australia master programs in January 2021.

The CMU Australia Scholarships for International Students is valued at AUD $30,000 for the duration of 21-month masters degrees, and AUD $20,000 for the duration of 12-month masters degrees.
